The Electronic Timecard System can be utilized by any business or organization wishing to streamline its payroll department procedures and save money spent in time-consuming timesheet collection.
The Electronic Timecard software was written in Visual Basic 3 for use with SQL Server 6.5, and runs in Windows 95 or Windows NT. The automated system minimizes the consumption of paper and eliminates the need for weekly pick-up and delivery of time sheets. The system simplifies daily entry of times by employees, who select jobs worked from lists provided by supervisors. Employees "sign" their "timecards" electronically at the end of each week. Supervisors can review employees' electronic timecards daily and sign the timecards at the end of each week, all electronically.
Benefits include the following:
- Daily time entry by employees has been simplified. Using a computer, jobs are selected from a list provided by supervisors.
- Supervisors can review timecards on a daily basis without leaving their desks.
- Supervisors can electronically sign the timecards of their employees at the end of the week. If supervisors will be absent from work, they can assign employees to another supervisor.
- Management can reassign employees to other departments and supervisors due to job requirements. They can also assign a replacement for an absent supervisor.
- Payroll has the capability to maintain a series of rules that control the processing of the system. This eliminates the need for code changes whenever the rules change.
- Payroll can run a series of weekly reports to show a list of exceptions and possible errors. Each timecard can be reviewed individually and any corrections made.
- New hires can be added to the system the first day on the job.
